World
- The game is set in a world known as “E’orus”. It is a high fantasy, high magic setting. Players will have an opportunity to explore the far reaches of the world and even help in development of yet unknown areas.
Background
- Players are members of a monster hunter guild known as the Frostwyrm Vanguard. It is a well renowned guild that provides "heroes for hire" type services to all of E'orus. The guild is located in the town of Hünfir, at the southern most point of the Vinderfjell mountains on the continent of Emera.
Gameplay
- The "campaign" will be run as a collection of "one shots" (with the option for multi session games depending on DM and player discussion). Instead of a central theme and story driven adventure like many modules the game will be "quest" driven. This is to allow for players to come and go as they are able to without the need to maintain a coherent storyline between characters. During a session players will have the option to choose from several DM curated bounties from the guild bounty board. Bounties will have varying quest types (hunt a specific monster, rescue a town, investigate disappearances, etc...).
Format
The game will be run using Foundry Virtual Tabletop (VTT) for visual elements (story, battle, etc...). All that is needed for access to the Foundry VTT is a web browser (Chrome works best). The URL for the game is provided in the Discord channel.
- Majority of play will be in person
- There is an option for those that wish to play virtually as well using Discord for voice communications and Foundry VTT for character control
Rules
🤩 Inspiration ...
- Inspiration will be given by the DM for players who are engaged and play their characters well through RP or out of the box thinking. Players can give their inspiration point to other players as they see fit as well. Inspiration may not be given after a roll has been called for by the DM.
📈 Leveling
- This campaign will be Experience Point (XP) based. Players are solely responsible for tracking their XP.
🧪 Potions
In standard 5E, drinking potions is a full action. This is generally viewed negatively due to the combat heavy mechanics 5E promotes.
- Players may drink a potion as a bonus action OR full action.
- To administer a potion to another player, it takes a full action. To give another player a potion for them to consume later, it takes your free action.
💥 Critical Damage
- Critical hit damage formula will be max + your die roll.
Ex. Longbow: 1d8. Damage = 8 + 1d8 + modifiers
⚠️ But beware...this applies to the monsters as well :) ⚠️
😴 Short Rest
- Standard short rest in 5e is 1 hour. This is reduced to 30 minutes in this setting.

Character Creation
Character creation is available in DndBeyond HERE
- Ability Scores will be determined by point buy or standard array. IF you wish to roll for your ability scores it must be done in person before the start of your first session.
- Players will start at level 5
- All official WoTC source materials can be used for character creation in addition to the materials provided in Hamund's Harvesting Handbook (see "Additional Content").
- Players are encouraged to create background stories. Options are open for those that wish to create their own backstory locations (towns, cities) that can be added to the canon of the world with DM approval.
- Players will start with Standard Gear from their class and background in addition to one of the following items:
- 500 gp + 1d10 x 25 gp (to be rolled at the start of your first game)
- one uncommon magic item
